Condor has launched daily, year-round direct flights between Berlin and Abu Dhabi, establishing the first scheduled direct connection between the two capitals on the German airline’s network.

Zayed International Airport announced the new service on 16 October. The route is operated using an Airbus A320neo, according to the airport.

The service also expands travel options through a codeshare partnership between Condor and Etihad Airways. Passengers flying from Berlin can connect to destinations across Etihad’s network, while travellers departing Abu Dhabi can access Condor’s network through Berlin.

New route targets German visitor market

The first outbound flight is scheduled for Wednesday, October 21. It will depart Berlin-Brandenburg Airport at 4:40 pm and arrive in Abu Dhabi at 1:00 am local time. The six-hour and 20-minute service operates as Condor flight DE2552, with economy fares starting from €499.99 at the time of checking.

The service is expected to improve access to Abu Dhabi for travellers from Germany, supporting tourism and business links between the two cities. Haitham Ali Khamis, acting director of tourism products development at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, said Germany had consistently been a valuable source of visitors to the emirate: “The launch of Condor’s direct service from Berlin is an important step in expanding Abu Dhabi’s reach within the German market”.

Carsten Nørland, chief commercial officer of Abu Dhabi Airports, said the route would strengthen connectivity between the two capitals and support opportunities for tourism, business and trade.

Codeshare expands onward connections

The partnership with Etihad Airways will allow passengers to connect beyond Abu Dhabi and Berlin through the airlines’ respective networks.

Dr Pierre Dominique Prümm, chief commercial officer at Condor Airlines, said the partnership offered connections to destinations across Asia, Australia and Africa, alongside the direct service.

Lena Havia, Etihad Airways’ vice president of alliances and joint ventures, emphasized the route would give passengers in Berlin daily, year-round access to Abu Dhabi and onward connections across Etihad’s network.

The new service adds to Etihad’s existing operations in Germany, which the airport announcement said include 35 flights a week and a Frankfurt–Abu Dhabi link. Further weekly services are planned as the partnership develops, according to the announcement.
