Arab Parliament speaker condemns Iranian attacks on Qatar, UAE and other Arab states

The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, has condemned Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Jordan, according to a statement from his office.

Al Yamahi said the attacks amounted to a violation of the sovereignty of Arab states, a breach of international law and the UN Charter, and an escalation that threatens regional security and stability, and undermines efforts to contain tensions and promote regional peace.

Solidarity with the six states

Al Yamahi affirmed the Arab Parliament's full solidarity with the six countries and its support for any measures they take to safeguard their national security, sovereignty and citizens, according to the statement.

He said that any infringement on the security, sovereignty or territorial integrity of an Arab state represents a threat to the wider Arab national security system, and called for a firm and unified Arab and international response.

Call for UN Security Council action

Al Yamahi called on the international community, and the UN Security Council in particular, to take urgent measures to halt the attacks and hold those responsible to account, and to uphold the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of states under international law.

He said this was necessary to prevent further escalation and to preserve regional and international security and stability.
